A Place to Learn About Money Honestly
Coinpetal was built on the belief that financial clarity is something every Malaysian deserves access to — without jargon, pressure, or pretence.
Back to HomepageRooted in Kota Kinabalu, Thinking About Malaysia
Coinpetal began in 2019 when a group of finance professionals in Kota Kinabalu started noticing a consistent pattern among their friends and family: people weren't lacking intelligence or ambition — they were lacking a clear, structured way to think about money.
They weren't looking for investment tips or product pitches. They needed something more foundational: a calm, honest space to build financial understanding from the ground up.
So Coinpetal was founded — not as a financial advisory, but as a financial education provider. We run programs. We explain concepts. We answer questions. We don't sell products or manage funds.
Today, our three core programs serve individuals, families, and small business owners across Sabah and beyond — each designed with the same patient, conversational approach that has defined us from the beginning.
Our Mission
To make structured financial thinking accessible to every Malaysian — regardless of their background, prior knowledge, or the size of their wallet.
Our Vision
A Malaysia where financial literacy is a normal part of everyday life — where people feel confident, curious, and in control of their financial decisions.
Our Values
Honesty over hype. Patience over pressure. Clarity over complexity. Respect for the learner above all else.
Our Core Team
A small, committed team of educators and finance practitioners who care deeply about how people learn.
Razif Azhan
With over 14 years in financial planning and adult education, Razif designed Coinpetal's core curriculum and leads the Foundations program personally.
Nadia Ibrahim
Nadia brings a background in Shariah-compliant finance and has spent a decade helping Malaysians understand how Islamic finance principles work in everyday life.
David Lim
David previously ran his own SME in Sabah before transitioning into education. He facilitates our Entrepreneurial Finance program with experience that participants say is immediately practical.
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Our approach to education is shaped by principles that protect learners and maintain the integrity of what we teach.
Curriculum Transparency
Every program comes with a full session outline shared in advance. Participants know exactly what they're learning — and why — before they begin.
Educator Accountability
Our educators are selected for both knowledge and communication skill. We conduct regular peer reviews of session quality and welcome participant feedback.
No Conflict of Interest
We have no financial products to sell. Our educators receive no commissions from product referrals. This keeps the content honest and the advice unconflicted.
Data Privacy
Participant information is handled with strict confidentiality. We comply with the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) in all data practices.
Curriculum Updates
Financial regulations, products, and conditions change. We review and update all program content at least twice a year to ensure relevance and accuracy.
Accessible Language
We hold ourselves to the standard of explaining every concept in plain English. If a participant doesn't understand something, that's feedback about our teaching, not their ability.
Financial Education Rooted in Sabah's Context
The financial landscape in Malaysia — and Sabah in particular — has its own nuances: a diverse population with different cultural attitudes toward money, a growing SME sector navigating compliance and cash flow, and a community increasingly interested in how Islamic finance principles can guide personal planning.
Coinpetal's programs are built with these realities in mind. Rather than adapting content from other markets, we develop material using Malaysian case studies, local regulatory frameworks (including SSM requirements, EPF considerations, and PDPA obligations), and examples drawn from the kinds of financial decisions our participants actually face.
Our work is fundamentally educational, not advisory. We don't manage funds, recommend specific products, or hold any financial advisory licence. What we do well is explain how financial systems work, how to evaluate options critically, and how to build the habits of thought that lead to more considered financial decisions over time.
That patient, grounded approach — cultivated like a garden, one layer at a time — is what Coinpetal is about.
